‘True 75ohm’ DIN1.0/2.3

Whether or not you follow Formula 1 you cannot have failed to notice the exciting trailers for Sky Sports F1 HD, the new Sky channel launched in 2012 and dedicated to F1.  To deliver this new service required the best people using the best equipment and selection of the right companies to provide this equipment was critical.  Gearhouse Broadcast of Watford was awarded the contract to build the four mobile broadcast pods which will be flown around the world to follow the circuit.

Because Sky Sports F1 HD is a High Definition (HD) channel all equipment used to record, edit and transmit the digital signals must be interconnected using 75ohm HD cables and connectors. COAX Connectors has a great deal of experience designing and manufacturing HD connectors for the broadcast industry so were delighted to be selected by Gearhouse to provide True 75ohm DIN1.0/2.3 plugs for use in building the mobile pods. 

This European telecoms interface was adopted several years ago by broadcast equipment manufacturers because it offers twice the connector density of standard BNCs. The DIN1.0/2.3 connector was originally designed for 50ohm telecoms applications and whilst many manufacturers claim that their connectors are 75ohm, in reality many are not.  COAX Connectors believe that their ‘True 75ohm’ DIN1.0/2.3 connectors are the best for HD Broadcast applications because they have been specifically designed and tuned to match the 75ohm impedance used in broadcast.
